The full list of antivirus software incompatible with Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows is available in the incompatible.txt file in the installation package, except for version Service Pack 2 Maintenance Release 4, which is not distributed as full installation package.
NAV2004 is part of the Norton Internet Security suite of products, which also includes the new Anti Spam product as well as the Norton Personal Firewall product. Anti Spam replaces Spam Alert and has been significantly upgraded with support for POP3 e-mail accounts (other products from competitors support IMAP servers) as well as tool bar integration with Outlook, Outlook Express and Eudora. The Personal Firewall product has been enhanced to be adjustable depending on a particular location, which helps laptop users as they move from corporate to home to remote networks to alter their security settings accordingly.
Another nice feature is the ability to selectively block ads from particular Web sites. Important for VARs is the ability to install the Personal Firewall 2004 product directly on users' machines that are running previous versions and still maintain their existing settings. (Previous versions required users or VARs to first uninstall the older software.) There is also a Professional version of Internet Security that includes user access manager to deploy customized configurations across an enterrpise.
Another suite of utilities from Norton is SystemWorks 2004, which includes the NAV 2004 version and a new product called Norton Password Manager. This product automatically fills in password screens on Web sites, and has different security settings to support users who wish to have flexibility in how they login to secured sites. The highest setting asks for confirmation and a special password for each login, while the least lax will login automatically and only ask for a single sign-on. The Password Manager will also be sold as a separate software SKU. In addition to passwords, this software will also autofill other fields on Web forms. SystemWorks 2004 also comes in a Professional version that includes the Ghost imaging software, which has not been updated from its 2003 version.
AGNIS contains a set of customized ad block lists for AtGuard, Norton Internet Security 2000/2001/2002/2003, and Norton Personal Firewall 2003. These block lists are much more extensive than the default ad block lists shipped with all of these programs. AGNIS includes both a "full" and "lite" version of this customized ad block list for each application:
* Users of Norton Internet Security 2002 Professional, Norton Internet Security 2003, Norton Internet Security 2003 Professional, Norton Personal Firewall 2003, Norton Internet Security 2004, Norton Internet Security 2004 Professional, Norton Personal Firewall 2004, Norton Internet Security 2005, Norton Personal Firewall 2005, Norton Internet Security 2006, Norton Personal Firewall 2006, and Norton Internet Security 2007 should see the note below for special information on using AGNIS with those versions of NIS and NPF.
The AGNIS block lists can be used with Norton Internet Security 2002 Professional, Norton Internet Security 2003, Norton Internet Security 2003 Professional, Norton Personal Firewall 2003, Norton Internet Security 2004, Norton Internet Security 2004 Professional, Norton Personal Firewall 2004, Norton Internet Security 2005, Norton Personal Firewall 2005, Norton Internet Security 2006, Norton Personal Firewall 2006, and Norton Internet Security 2007, however, you must use the ProWAGoN utility written by Christian Haagensen to load, remove, and backup the block lists. The AGNIS.BAT batch file utility cannot be used to add and remove block lists from these versions of NIS and NPF due to anti-tampering restrictions in these firewalls. Use ProWAGoN instead.
The Mar. 22, 2004 version of AGNIS introduced a new version of the AGNIS lists: a "super-lite" block list for AtGuard and NIS/NPF users. This "super-lite" version is about 1/3 the size of the full list and can be found in the \SUP sub-directory of the AGNIS installation directory. This "super-lite" version was created primarily to assist AtGuard users who might be experiencing problems (errors, system crashes) with one of the larger lists. A version for NIS/NPF users has also been included, though.
As this new "super-lite" version contains only a small sub-set of the "full" list, it will probably not be updated as frequently as the "full" and "lite" versions. It will be updated only when new entries for its five main sections are added. Users can track new entries that have been added to the AGNIS list by checking the "change list."
There is no special forum, newsgroup, or web board for AGNIS. I do hang out regularly in several newsgroups and forums where you can often find folks discussing all the various versions of my AGNIS lists (and other things related to privacy & security). I also announce updates to AGNIS in the "updates" section of those forums. See the Updates for IE-SPYAD & AGNIS section at the bottom of this page for links to those forums and newsgroups. 2b1af7f3a8
