Abridged review of Peaky Blinders season 6 episode 4: The Storm of War
Ooh, Peaky Blinders has been a bit slow and shy of its own story lately. The episode 4 opener focuses on the characters of Tommy and Arthur, and how they've changed since season 1 - and it's a bit out of character for the series, as it's a bit of a finale episode of sorts. The pair return to Whitechapel, only to find their street crawling with cops. To make matters worse, Tommy is forced to take a beating from the CID, even being told that his brother Arthur is dead and that he's being charged with Arthur's murder. The episode begins with Tommy being informed of this, which explains why he is so embittered and openly hostile to the police. It's a good way to open the episode, as it sets up where we left off. The policeman in charge of the charge is a good character, as he is an easy scapegoat for Tommy's crimes, and spends a lot of time attempting to convince Tommy that they can win without incriminating him. Tommy doesn't buy this argument, but the episode does spend some time showing Arthur's old gangster pals deciding to intervene and help Tommy escape.
Peaky Blinders season 6 episode 4 airs on BBC One on Thursday, 30 April at 9pm BST (8pm GMT). Want to watch it wherever you are? Why not try a VPN to turn your laptop into a Smart TV, since the BBC iPlayer comes with a free, 48 hour trial?
We hope you're as excited as we are about the return of Peaky Blinders on BBC One, but if you missed out on the first half of the series, don't lose hope. The UK is currently streaming the latest instalment of the British gangster drama starring Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby and Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby. With so many ways to watch online, it's not hard to see why fans everywhere are so gripped by the show, but we're still curious to see if Murphy's status as a major movie star can translate into a life on the small screen like his friend Michael Caine (whose appearance in Peaky Blinders season 2 is coming up next in August).
The Hollywood Reporter says it's time to stop watching Game of Thrones now that the show is ending. We don't mean to be rude, but that's a load of bullocks. Go read more here and here .
