So i click install and everything is going well , but then halfway through a window pop up and it tells me "Please insert disc 2 that contains DATA3.CAB ,( I don't have that file in my computer) and i put in disk 2 , then another window comes up and tells me to choose a file , so i pick gta folder ,and it says error and then the download window closes. i have no idea what to do im not good at files computers or anything .I bought the game 8 months ago and cant play it i have windows 7 home premium 64 bit

E:\GTAIV\data3.cab on my second DVD is damaged and won't install the game, it installs untill i have to insert DVD2, then it says it could'nt find a file and that data3.cab is damaged, any solutions to this problem?

Man i'm blind or what? There no such thing as middle ... It says Setup Requires A Disk change. Please insert disc 2 that contains the file data3.cab. Path: browse/cance/ok ... i go to data3.cab hit ok and pops up Setup could not find a file on specifiedpath of disk.Please check that proper disk is inserted or specify a new path. (im using vista premium)

If you're having CRC errors, then nothing will work, the disc is damaged (even though it might not visbily be). Rockstar certainly seems to have a habit of shopping at cheap dvd'r us for their media. I have a sh*tload of DVD's and only two have CRC errors, (GTA-Sa and GTAÏV funny that).

Then i click next on the setup then i click yes to the terms and condisions. And then when the installing was almost complete the message pops up. I inserted disk 2 and clicked ok but it said like please put the right disk or select a new path something like that. Windows shows the drive letter in parentheses in "My Computer". But I digress.Check for scratches, cuts, carves, anything that doesn't look like it belongs with the spiral on the back of the CD (the bottom, if you prefer). If you find these, and you have the intention of returning them, don't try fixing it, just return it. Some more discerning shopkeepers may otherwise call on "intentional damage", which is usually grounds for voiding any kind of warranty.If they refuse to swap CDs with you, then you can try fixing them. We have methods that you could best describe as quote-unquote creative. One other thing you can do is something I mentioned before: copying the contents of the CDs to your hard drive, and installing from there. Security is on running the game, not installing it, so you're perfectly legal there.The easiest way would be to create a new folder --say, "C:\Temp\SH2_CDS"-- and copy the contents in there. Copy the contents of CD1's "Disk1" in there, (simply drag the contents from the CD directory to the temporary you created). Do the same with CD2's "Disk2" directory.Note that you should drag the contents, not the folders themselves. Ultimately, the contents of Disk1 and Disk2 should be in the same folder: "C:\Temp\SH2_CDS".Now install from "C:\Temp\SH2_CDS", using "setup.exe"; you can eject the CD just to be sure you're installing from the right spot.
